Abstract
The objectives of this research are to answer the questions: (1) how is the party affiliation of santri (students of Islamic Boarding School) in the multiparty era of 2009?; (2) what factors did influence the party affiliation of santri in the multiparty of 2009?; (3) how is the socio-political and economical implication of their party affiliation in the multiparty era of 2009?. This study used qualitative approach by which the data were collected by in depth interview, participant observation, and (3) study of document. The findings of this research are: (1) the party affiliation of santri in the multiparty era of 2009 shows a choice dissemination; (2) factors influenced the party affiliation are interest to the elites party performance, such as a kiai or religious leader who became a party manager, similarity of ideology, party’s programs, and aspiration concord; (3) socio-political and economical implication of the party affiliation influenced positively and constructively even though there were some lacks and weaknesses on the practical level.
