Abstract
The focuses of this research are: (1) how is the difference of legacy division system by Muslims in Salatiga?; (2) what are the reasons basing the legacy division practice? This is a field research identified by the researcher involvement in field to experience the system of thinking and behavior of the research subject. The research type is descriptive-qualitative with phenomenological approach. The findings of the research are: (1) generally, Salatiga Muslims still thought that Islamic legacy law is fair and suitable with world development; (2) even though they acknowledges that Islamic legacy law is justice, they rejected legacy verses so that the deviation of the principle 2:1 is allowed; (3) the reason basing this practice shifted from normative to sociologic and or politic.
