MAKNA PENDIDIKAN BAGI MASYARAKAT TERTINGGAL: Studi Pengembangan Model Persekolahan bagi Masyarakat Sekitar Waduk Kedung Ombo

Abstract

This reseach is aimed at developing a beneficial schooling model for the uneducated people living surround WKO. The reseach questions are (1) How do the uneducated popele get the benefits of schools? (2) which schooling model has functional meaning for the uneducated people? This reaseach uses qualitative approach with reseach and development framework.

      The findings show that most people do not get the benefits of schools. A school is merely (1) a media to get writing-reading skills (2) a social value they should met before a child is not ready to work. After finishing their Elementary school or Junior high school, most of them go to some big cities to work as labours. HOwever in the next when they have got married, they thought that their income so far is not enough to support their family life. therefore they decided to go back to the hometowns and work as farmers or others without any skills. Based on the forming learning trial  model given to the students of Junior High school in this region, it is found that they accept this learning model positively. This model is appropriate and match to the students’ needs. Referring to the findings, the reseach recommends that there should be some trainings on husbandary-farming, or other competencies which are suitable with the potency of the regions
