MORALITAS SISWA DAN PEMBELAJARAN AGAMA ISLAM: Studi pada SMA dan SMK di Salatiga

Abstract

The existence of religion teacher in a school plays an important role in implementing the students’ attitude and personality. Through religious education, teacher can introduce and let the students apply good social values in the social life. This study is aimed at elaborating what the teacher of Islamic Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) does in implementing  moral values to the students of SMA/SMK in Salatiga. The study focuses on (1) the competence of Islamic Education teacher, (2) the activities done to implement moral values, (3) methods and approaches used by teachers. This is a qualitative study and the subject is taken purposively. The main technique of collecting data is in-depth interview, and then the data is analyzed through reduction, in-display and verification.

The findings of the study are (1) the actualization in implementing the students’ moral values through Islamic education is done in every subject by emphasizing more on moral subject. (2) Only some teachers are able to teach Islamic Education, (3) Islamic Education teachers teach moral values by applying some methods in the learning process, (4) teachers of moral education refer to the cognitive moral development, value personalization, and imitation through good examples.
