Abstract
This study aims to analyse critically the thought of a scholar through library research. Research focused on first, biographies of Hasan Hanafi, including his educational background as well as the socio-cultural, economic, and political condition that influenced the way he perceived realities and his thoughts and second, Hasan Hanafi’s thoughts on socio-culture, economic, and politics that proved his being a reputable scholar. This study sheds lights on the connection between a scholar’s thought and the socio-cultural, economic, and political situation surrounding him and the originality of thought of a scholar who pays much concerns on the community where he is raised up.
