Abstract
There are many reasons that a women choose to live as a streetwalker. Consequently, this results in many aspects of their lives as their choice. This study is aimed at illuminating (1) the personal background, family background, and religious background of the streetwalker; (2) the factors leading them to choose streetwalker as a profession; and (3) the existence problem of streetwalkers in their personal lives, family lives and social lives as well. To conduct the research, the writers use qualitative method and descriptive-analytic framework. The data were collected by in-depth interview. Finally the analysis was done by finding the themes then classified the findings in the interviews as the focus of the study. The findings are (1) a streetwalker usually has low level of education, financial support, and religious aspect in her family, (2) the main factor leading them to choose streetwalker as a profession are financial problems, their willing to have much money easily, and their irresponsible husband. And (3) a streetwalker usually has her life hard as moral conflicts when she should be in her family and society.
