The Endurance of Women who are Infected with HIV/AIDS: A Case Study In Doli, Surabaya

Abstract

This study is an exploratory research did in Doli, Kremil, Bangunsari Location in Surabaya, that stress on the study in asking the questions of how the women infected with HIV/AIDS who has role as mother cope with their illness in relation to with many aspects of their life, disclosure or not toward their family, children, friends and community. This research is analyzed by descriptive-qualitative method. The findings indicate that stigma, discrimination and marginalization have great influence while communicating with those four aspects of life. For future contribution, this study can suggest that although there are some physic and psychological supports given from the Mosque organization, Non Government Organization and Local Government, still a growth focus orientation should be emphasized in empowering women to disclosure their case.
