Abstract
The main problems of the research are: (1) what should the leadership pattern of politician Kyai in developing the ESQ of his santri (students)? (2) how to realize the leadership pattern of politician Kyai in developing Emotional Spiritual Quotient (ESQ) of his santri (students)? This is a naturalistic qualititative research, a research method to investigate the natural object condition in which the researcher is as the key instrument using qualitative approach. This research finsings are (1) as a leader of pesantren and politician figure, Kyai must understand himself well, how to play his role, assignments and responsibilities, as well as fulfill criteria showing his charisma as a leader. (2) realization of leadership system of politician Kyai in developing the Emotional Spiritual Quotient (ESQ) of his santri (students) has given moral protection to the santri or students by building their belief (aqidah), mentality (aqliyah), morality (khuluqiyah), corporality (jasadiyah), jihad.
