Abstract

The present study is a field research on the paradigm of street children intervention in Indonesia. This qualitative research is based on a case study of Insan Mandiri Children Shelter Yogyakarta. This study finds that Yayasan Insan Mandiri employ the reformist paradigm of NGO. This could be treasured from the Insan Mandiri’s point of view on the phenomenon of street children. On their perspective, the street children is caused by the negative mentality of the children and the social condition of the siociety. This paradigm influenced their activities on street children intervention such as setablising children shelter and providing skill trainings. Rather than solve the problem, the use of the reformist paradigm will perpetuate the existing street children on the street.
